What a cracking Saturday it was here in Sydney this weekend, 22˚ and beautifully sunny, so out came the flip flops ~ or 'thongs' as they're known here in Oz - however where I come from I wouldn't be in great favour of announcing publicly, to the entire world on a blog that I was wearing my 'thongs', hence why I still ~ and most probably always will, find it difficult to not refer to said sandals as; flip flops ;)
Anyway, summery footwear in place, sunscreen slipped, sloped and slapped on and being up nice and early, my better half and I headed over to the Orange Grove Organic Markets just up the road in Lilyfield. We've been meaning to go here for weeks but something always popped up to stop us from getting there. It's a great market, jam-packed with wonderful organic produce and food stalls, I was quite taken-a-back at the amount of variety and quality of the produce for sale. I had thought to bring my camera but decided against it, next time I'll bring it for sure, to capture some of the fabulous offerings. I had heard the market is famous for it's bacon and egg sandwiches which I smelled the second we got to the gates, unfortunately though there was a huge queue a mile long at the stand, so on this occasion we decided to give it a skip and opted to have breakfast in the back garden at home using the fantastic organic mushrooms and tomatoes we bought. For a summery outdoor lunch I made a Beef Carpaccio using a piece of fillet beef I picked up at the market and used up the remains of the tomatoes and some other veggies I bought too. It's a really easy, flavour-packed, light lunch dish which pairs well with some crusty bread and a glass of Aussie pinot.

About those bacon and eggs rolls ... they're truly fabulous and although the line always looks daunting, it moves very quickly. The small wait is definitely worth it!
