Steak with White Anchovy Butter, Rosemary Sauteed Potatoes & Balsamic Baby Onions. Citrus, Pomegranate, Almond and Poppy Seed Cake

A super quick post this week, due to total work overload, but before I say anything further let me just ay a big: Happy Valentine's Day folks!! ♥ ☺

I thought I'd post up some recipes today for two dishes I made this weekend, one was inspired after a trip to the wonderful Victor Churchill Butcher Shop in Woollahara, I've spoken about this shop before, and I think its best summed up here visually at Bill Tikos' site: The Cool Hunter...

I am off this Thursday to a fabulous place here in NSW called Orange, I have heard only wonderful things about this little town from a foodie perspective so am super excited to head off on a little excursion of the area, obviously loads of photos and stories to follow.

I'll absolutely try your cake : love the mix of flavours!
Did you get my Boston tips on twitter? (I was refering to articles I wrote when I was visiting the city earlier this year) :)

Katie Quinn Davies said...

Hi Christelle - yes I did thanks - I'll be in Boston for 2 nights. I booked pretty much everything the other night - so exciting!! I can't wait to see MA and RI for about 5 nights after which we're flying to Albuquerque (you have no iota how long it's taken me to spell that correctly! LOL ) where we're going to hire a car and drive to Monument Vally (and stay at that amazing hotel: http://www.monumentvalleyview.com before heading to Grand canyon, Vegas, drive to LA, then a week in Venice and Santa Barbara. I'm trying really hard not to start packing! :) x

Hi Katie,

When you are in Santa Barbara, you must go to the very end of the pier and for shrimp tacos. I don't know what the name of the place is, but don't be fooled by all the restaurants along the pier, just go to the very last one. It's well worth it. Possibly the best shrimp tacos in CA.

That cake is gorgeous. I love how rustic it looks. And the pomegranates, wow, what a picture!
I am so distracted by the photos I forget to read the recipes!

I am in love with your cake receipe (partially because it is gluten free) and because it looks so yummy.
In the receipe when you say add the chopped oranges do you mean the "smooth pulp" that is first made? also, do the oranges get pulped skin and all?

Lovin you ur work and also now very hungry :)

Katie Quinn Davies said...

Hi Samantha

Yes, I need to amend the recipe. I initially made it and kept the orange pieces in bits but then when i made it a second time I found it better to pulp the cooked orange as I prefer the texture. I'll amend in recipe now and repost. Tks

The steak looks great, but the cake looks and sounds fantastic. The cinnamon would be lovely in it.

If you can, please post the recipes for the cherry sauce and hazelnut praline (the photos showing them in your Feb 6th post are dreamy).

Tati,

The photos on your blog are pretty amazing too! And it's fun pretending I can read the copy. The 5 years of spanish I studied makes me think I should be able to read portuguese. I'm getting about every 3 words or so. Nice blog!

I don't even like steak very much or pomegranates either but now you've made me wanting them very much. Can you please disclose what time of fonts are you using in your recipe formatting? I would appreciate it very much. I love your photographs!
