Aussie pomegranates are currently in/coming into season and I ordered myself a bottle of pomegranate syrup from my local grocery store today (it's amazing stuff ~ fruity, sour, and slightly bitter tastes but they're currently out of stock so i have to wait a few days) I think it will make for the most incredible pairing as a glaze and sauce with a belly of pork I am cooking later this week - I will post results and recipe when I shoot it.

Chocolate Salted Caramel Hazelnut Pie

Recipe up now guys for choco pie, sorry it got delayed by a day or so, was up to tonsils yesterday working on a great editorial mag food shoot with my mates Nat and Simon from the Sydney Picnic Co. who helped me cook and style to shots, they turned out fantastic and I look forward to putting a few up here in a month or two when they are published.
I still need to do a proper little update on the goings on here which I hope to get round to in the next day or two when things are a tad less manic for me. Am super excited to be shooting one, if not THE best Aussie fashion designers tomorrow (I simple ADORE her clothes); the one and only Lee Mathews. So hopefully I'll have a few little out-takes of the shop to post up on the blog.
Also on a side note, I have been nominated for Cosmopolitan Magazines 'Fun, Fearless Female' Award 2011 (!) in the Blogger category, so if you have a spare second I'd be ever so grateful if you'd click on the above right big pink dot (hard to miss!) and give me your vote - Tks xxx ;-)
Plus too if you can, (sorry I know I'm pushing it now!) but if anyone would like to nominate me for the Saveur Best Blog awards 2011 in the Food photography category: http://www.saveur.com/2011-best-food-blog-nominations.jsp I would be super, super thrilled :-)
Last week I was contacted by Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and asked if I'd like to be involved in their Flavour Election campaign - I don't normally get involved in too many external promotional pieces in regards to my blog, but I knew my husband would divorce me if I said no to receiving 4 free tubs of ice cream - including one which included copious amounts of chocolate! So I said yes and over the past week he and I, and some of our mates have had the joys of tasting some really yummy ice-cream (there isn't a lot of good quality gourmet ice-cream brands in Australia - something with always, and still does surprise me given the climate. Anyway, after careful consideration, we all found our No.1 vote went to the Vanilla which is a super creamy, very decent tasting product. You can read more about this competition - where you can seemingly win a year's supply of ice-cream (!) here at their site.
Thanks all xx

Hi Christine, thanks - It's pretty naughty alright, fine slivers were had all round tonight and it's deffo not one for the diet agenda! I'll post recipe up tomorrow, I have been going like billio today with blog photos and prep also for a big shoot tomorrow. Will jot down recipe in-bewteen shots tomorrow and post up. xx
As always, your pictures are amazing.
The cannelloni looks a bit crispy on the edges. Do you prefer it this way?
Beautiful pictures! Stunnning!
Hi Samantha yes I do, it's fresh homemade pasta and I've always loved lasagne or cannelloni where the edges go all crispy and crunchy and the cheese caramelises on top. Makes a great contrast I find to the softer pasta sheets in the main body of the dish. I normally find it impossible not to pick all the crispy bits off the top the minute it comes out of the oven! ;-)
*Very* nice photos, even by your high standards!
Katie,
After I saw the photo (on Facebook) of the chocolate ganache, rapsberry and pistachio pancake layer cake, I was so looking forward to reading its recipe too. I need to make it ASAP! I made a similar one (http://bit.ly/f7lija) but this looks so tempting!!! :)

Thanks for sharing them Katie. Congratulations on all the nominations!
Your photos are always absolutely stunning. I love how all the food looks so rustic, and nothing is too "perfect". For example, the little bread crumbs and cheese shavings strewn about. It makes me feel as if I'm actually apart of the meal that's about to be eaten.
Wow, all of these dishes look so amazing. I don't even like pasta that much but I would try this...and the desserts look divine. What a way to start the day!
Well done!
The way you put everything on this blog reminds me of the movie Julie & Julia. I love the authenticity of the whole process. It adds appeal to it. And that Panzanella salad looks divine. Yum!
Thanks for sharing!
Stunning; each post, recipe and image is simply divine. I am a big fan :) ox.
Complimenti, il tuo blog è splendido, foto straordinarie e ricette interessantissime!

Nominated! You sincerely have the most beautiful food photography out there. Hope you win that Saveur award :)
Katie, Regarding the Saveur Best Food Blog vote … done. Good luck! - Kyle
Thank you so much for your beautiful and inspirational blog. Reading a post from you is like curling up with a good book on a rainy day. Except I want to cook after I'm done reading. :)
Would you mind answering a quick question? The condensed milk for the pie...is it sweetened at all? In the US, we have evaporated milk (not sweet) or sweetened condensed milk? I'm guessing it's the former, but I'd hate to get it wrong.
Such wonderful pics!!! Your pics like real paintings especially the pic of Panzanella/Caprese Salad is like a painting of 19th century! I wish I could take pics like you one day! Congratulations! Love from Turkey
katie

Greetings from Brazil.

I like your photos very much. They are different from the standard high key food photos. They look old and new at the same time (partially desaturated except the food?). Quite revigorating
