Palm Beach Bonfire Shoot
All this week I am spending time developing recipes for the book and also working on recipes for my next food posting which I am planning to get up towards the end of this week. I have a few ideas for food which I experienced whilst on my US trip and also one or two other ideas which have been mulling around my head for a few weeks. Until I get these ideas cooked and shot, as a filler I thought I would upload some images from another shoot a did a few months ago up at Sydney's Palm Beach for Real Living Magazine. All the recipes are in the current Real Living edition and were written by Sophie Hansen of Mandagery Creek Venison Farm. When not helping her husband Tim tend to their extensive Venison stock, Sophie is a food writer and has spent considerable time working for some of the countries best foodie magazines.

Love these photos! They make me want to go pack my picnic basket right now and find a beach.
Especially liking the third to last one with the table setup and props in the background.
Some great ideas for beach bonfires this summer! Bringing a kettle with me next time :).
Love the photos! Lovely rustic touch to a modern day beach trip!
May I ride on your shirt tails of success!? So many wonderful things happening to you. I love these photos...the pop of red against the rustic browns and silvers. Beautiful!
I recognise these photos!!! Loved them in Real Living.. I'm sooo trying the camembert! You must've had so much fun creating & styling this shoot!!
:) Hazel
Summer at it's best...the photos and setting turned out lovely! I am drooling over these eats!
This is so beautiful! How can everything be this nice and perfectly styled even at the beach!? Amazing.
Gorgeous shots Katie! Hope you are fully recovered from your up close and way too personal encounter with a Sydney Cab. When's the book going to be ready?
LOVE!
This really does make me want to take a picnic to the beach - and there is a beautiful one 5 mins from my house, but sadly it's 40C just now. Love the baked cheese and the red mugs shots. Gorgeous as always.
Ah, bonfires at the beach ... with hip young friends rather than sand-throwing little tyrants ...
the photos are so beautiful!
Love it !!!
Feel So Warm ~ ^^
I love the styling in the photography, makes me wants to go on a gourmet camping trip.
ohh yum. looks amazing.
Once again, pictures are amazing, can't to by and read your book !

gorgeous! Nothing better than marshmallows toasted over a fire, although I think this trips' marshmallows were outdone by those fabulously juicy lookin' burgers and caramel apple cake!
Beautiful, inspiring photos as always...I cannot wait for the book!
great pics, I love your style !
Earlier this month when I bought the Real Living Magazine, I loved the shoot straight away and thought "Hmm, this photography is so much like What Katie Ate's blog!". Then I looked at the stylist and photographer's credit on the pages and knew. Awesome work!
A book? I read recently your posts and are always very beautiful!
Congratulations and good day
Marianna
Beautiful beautiful, I have a photographer question...why do your frames look medium format shaped? I noticed that in your last two posts. Is that because your 5D markII shoots full frame?
I wish we lived near the beach just to recreate that picnic! I have a coming post with almost the same nut recipe, but just sweet not spicy! Great minds must think alike, or maybe it's just the chill in the air bringing out creativity!
these pictures make me want to go to the beach and have a campfire and delicious eats immediately!
Hello Katie,
What wonderful photos and I need to try some of these recipes they sound amazing! Thanks for the inspiration for our next beach gathering. We live in Florida so are blessed with beautiful beaches.

By far the coziest, most gourmet looking meal by the fire I've ever seen.... Fantastic photoshoot, I want to be there!!!! Thank you!

It's good to see that flannel is still just as hipster all the way across the world in Australia as it is where I'm at! It's just so darn photogenic:)

Everything about this post is beautiful, this really is the epitome of summer, isn't it?
I'm in awe of your blog, i feel speechless when I see what you create with food and your photos are just WOW. I am such a huge FAN
What lovely shots, I recognised them from the mag as soon as I saw them. That cheese has my mouth watering, how naughty does it look?
Just caught up on your trip away. Again, beautiful shots. It really does make me want to get a new camera. I studied 20 years ago in the days of film and technology has really got away from me. I just love the clear, fresh shots with a shallow depth of field. They're so natural. I tend to rely on my ipod for my pics on my blog and it can be rather frustrating!
Sarah :)
Beautiful photos, your photography and styling is always so inspiring.
Oh my gosh! I just died :-)
Gorgeous all the way!
